Updated: Mar 19, 2020

The following is an article “Best Countries In The World To Do Business” by Marc Primo.

There are entrepreneurs all over the world, many of whom excel at what they do. More than possessing good business acumen and a pulse for their market, another major factor that determines their success is the country they operate in.

According to a 2018 U.S. News & World Report, the following are the best countries in the world to be an entrepreneur, based on attributes such as global connectivity, innovation, education, labor force, and easy access to capital, among others:

Germany — In a span of just a few decades, Deutschland has gone from infamy under Hitler’s rule to a superpower for all the right reasons, including the distinction of being the number one country in the world for entrepreneurs to do business. According to that same report, Germany also happens to make it into the top 10 lists of most modern, best quality of life, green-living, education, and transparency, to name a few.

Japan — Following in second place as the best country in the world to do business is the Land of the Rising Sun. Already a leading nation when it comes to technology and automobiles, Japan is also listed among the top 10 best countries for power, education, cultural influence, and one of the most influential.

United States — The Land of Opportunity takes third place when it comes to ideal business conditions for entrepreneurs. Like Japan, the U.S. also ranks highly when it comes to cultural influence, education, power, and influence—albeit packaged as a glossier and sensational option also known as the American Dream.

United Kingdom — Aside from being the nation that brought us The Beatles, Spice Girls, and Coldplay, the U.K. also ranked as the 4th best country in the world for entrepreneurs to flourish. More than that, it also made it to the top 10 list of best for retirement, starting a career, transparency, education, and cultural influence.

Switzerland — Timepieces and fine chocolate aside, Switzerland adds to its reputation for being a neutral nation in world politics by making it into the top 5 best countries in the world to start a business. It is also included in many top 10 lists, including best quality of life, most business-friendly, most modern, raising kids, headquartering a corporation, green living, retiring comfortably, and best countries overall.
